October 31st: Party of Light is our annual alternative to Halloween parties or trick or treating. Taking place every October 31st, our aim is to provide a safe, exciting environment for children of primary school age to come and take part in games, activities and story telling. Throughout the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, we see that light is not only very important to God, we find that indeed, God is light! For example, in Genesis it says, “And God said, ‘Let there be light.’ And there was light. And God saw that it was good.” In Exodus, we see God leading the Israelites out of Egypt as “a cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night, so they had light to see by day and night.” In the New Testament we see that Jesus is, time and time again, referred to as “the Light of the World”. (Read Matthew 4:16, John 1:1-9). Jesus even uses this name for Himself in John 8:12 and John 9:5. Considering the alternative ‘darkness’ or a Halloween party, ‘Party of Light’ as a name seemed rather apt. Following party games (including the traditional bobbing for apples which the parents seem to always want to take part in as much as the children) and a short talk, the evening traditionally rounds off with a barbeque and fireworks.      ...Top        ...Home
